Cathay Pacific has signed a new codeshare
arrangement with LAN Peru that will add Lima, the capital city of
Peru, to its network and further enhance the airline’s coverage in
Latin America.
This is the fourth Latin American destination to
be added to the Cathay Pacific network in 2010.
The new arrangement will be effective from the
first departure from Peru on 13 December 2010, subject to government
approval, and flights are already open for sale for travel from
that date.
The codeshare will see the “CX” code go on LAN
Peru’s flights between Lima and two of Cathay Pacific’s North
American gateway cities: Los Angeles and San Francisco. At the
same time, LAN Peru’s “LA” code will be placed on Cathay Pacific
services between Hong Kong and the two US gateways.
LAN Chief Executive Officer - Passenger,
Armando Valdivieso, said, “In May 2010, we initiated a codeshare
with Cathay Pacific to operate between Santiago, Chile and Hong
Kong through connections in Los Angeles, New York and Auckland.
Now, with this new agreement between LAN Peru and Cathay Pacific,
we hope to substantially enhance our competitive position within
the Latin American market.”
LAN Peru is a subsidiary of LAN
Airlines and an affiliate member of the oneworld alliance, of
which both Cathay Pacific and LAN Airlines are full members.
