Design Hotels has added another hotel to its
Oceania portfolio Hotel DeBrett in New Zealand.
Situated in a
traditional Art Deco building in Aucklands hip fashion district,
the 25-room hotel is designed and run by Michelle Deery and John
Courtney.
Every room has a unique design and features eclectic
furniture and New Zealand art and photography.
As a reinvention of one of Aucklands oldest
hotels, Hotel DeBrett retains some of its homey and familiar
features, such as an open gas-burning fire, oak floorboards and
exposed brick walls.
The hotels bar has been carefully restored
to its former glory, and is fast-becoming the place to see and be
seen in the city. Guests can choose from the cocktail menu, or
sample a local boutique beer or glass of wine from a carefully
selected list of New Zealand wines. In keeping with the friendly
ambience, guests are invited to enjoy a nightly complimentary
drink hosted by the hotels owners or manager in the private
drawing room.
The Kitchen restaurant, headed by award-winning
chef Mark Sycamore, serves seasonal dishes which can be enjoyed in the glass-roofed atrium, or
in private dining suites.
A cozy drawing room for hotel guests
offers a retreat from the lively atrium and is equipped with board
games, a record player and a wide selection of books and DVD's.
There is also free gym access, and a variety of meeting spaces,
including a courtyard, basement, loft suite and boardroom.
Hotel DeBrett is just a short walk from the
restaurants and bars of Viaduct Harbour, the Sky Tower, Vector
Arena, and the Ferry Building. The hotel is surrounded by cultural
offerings including art galleries, theaters and museums.
Rates at Hotel DeBrett are from NZ$ 300600,
including complimentary continental breakfast, free Internet
access, free local calls and a complimentary pre-dinner drink
every night.
