Swire Hotels’ The Upper House in Pacific Place,
Hong Kong, has announced that, effective from 29 March 2010, all
of its 117 guestrooms will be smoke-free.
The hotel is taking this measure to ensure all
its rooms are smoke-free at all times, something the hotel says a
growing number of guests are requesting. The hotel will still
offer what it calls The Lawn
as an area where guests can smoke. The Lawn benefits from a sheltered area as well
comfortable open air seating and is surrounded by lush greenery and a
manicured lawn.
Hotel General Manager Dean Winter, said, “The
Upper House provides a unique experience from a design and dining
point of view and so it should from an environmental aspect. We
appreciate that in today’s world, more and more people are
sensitive to this issue.”
