AirAsia is to increase the frequency on its
popular Kuala Lumpur - Chennai route through the addition of four
more flights commencing 21 January 2011.
With these new additions,
AirAsia will now operate a total of 11 flights weekly from Chennai
and a total of 114 weekly flights from India.
AirAsia currently
serves this route with a direct daily flight to Chennai departing
from the LCC Terminal in Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia’s new
180-seater Airbus A320.
To celebrate the
introduction of the 2nd Kuala Lumpur -Chennai frequency, AirAsia
is offering all-in-fares from RM149 one-way for bookings between 16
and 21 November
2010 for travel between 21 January 2011 and 30 Jun 2011.
Promotional seats are limited and available on first-come,
first-served basis. Terms and conditions apply.
Kathleen Tan, Regional Head of Commercial, AirAsia
said, “We had always known that the Kuala Lumpur - Chennai route
will perform exceedingly well. Chennai in Southern India is a
highly popular and desired destination amongst the Hindus in
Malaysia. Meanwhile travelers from Chennai are increasingly using
Kuala Lumpur as a connecting gateway to over 130 routes in ASEAN
and beyond. In fact within the first few months of flying to
Chennai, we have consistently enjoyed strong load factor on this
route. We feel that it is timely to add a 2nd frequency and this
is certainly a reinforcement of our growing interest in the Indian
market. Through our extensive network in Asia, AirAsia continues
to offer cost effective direct point to point travel to Kuala
Lumpur and beyond. Since Chennai is strategically situated and is
also close to other tourist destinations, travelers can also fly
to many other cities in India.”
