One of the most luxurious hotels in not just
Hong Kong, but the whole of Asia, has opened executive floors for
the first time. The Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong has opened an
Horizon Club Lounge on level 56 of the hotel. The opulent lounge,
which is one of the highest in the city, connects to an
outdoor landscaped area and will offer meeting facilities,
complimentary continental breakfast and other breakfast options at
the adjacent Michelin-starred Restaurant Petrus. These privileges
as well as evening cocktails and Champagne, and enhanced amenities
are available exclusively for guests residing on the dedicated
Horizon Club floors from 52 to 55.
The HK$30-million (US$3.8 million) opening of
one of the most exquisite Horizon Clubs in the world at over 2,700 square feet
(260 square metres), will be a hallmark of the Island Shangri-La, Hong
Kong.
On stepping out on level 56, guests will be met with a bird’s eye
view, through floor-to-ceiling panel windows, of the world’s
largest indoor silk mural – the Great Motherland of China –
displayed in the 16-storey Atrium. Continuing the sense of Chinese
culture is an impressive Asian art piece at the intricately gilded
entranceway of the Horizon Club Lounge.
Inside, the
signature view of Victoria Harbour from the cinematic windows will
be a destination in itself and will complement the interior
conceived by LRF Designers Limited. Dark wood sets the tone
against rich jewelled hues and handcrafted crystal chandeliers,
which blend seamlessly with Asian accents of artefacts and the
archetypal qi pao (traditional Chinese dress), and
mandarin-collared attire of the club concierge.
Throughout
the guests’ stay in the Horizon Club, they will experience the
touches and technology that define Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
Each guest will be greeted individually, escorted to their room
and welcomed with Chinese tea. Customised with the latest
comforts, and to sustain a feeling of calm in the hectic city, the
Horizon Club guestrooms will feature the latest conveniences
including a jack panel for a computer and iPod, butler-call
button, espresso machine as well as an entertainment system
comprising a DVD player and a flat screen television. Other luxury
features include tea or coffee served with wake-up calls, daily
international newspapers, a television in the bathroom, a crystal
chandelier, rain shower, Frette linen, premium toiletries and
complimentary broadband internet access.
Among the on-site
services of the Horizon Club Lounge, is a harbour-facing meeting
room which accommodates up to eight persons, an intimate corner
library and complimentary wireless internet access. The adjoining
outdoor space of approximately 1,600 square feet (150 square
metres) is furnished and landscaped with lush tropical greenery
and offers prime views of Victoria Peak.
“We are
responding to a market today that expects greater selection,
flexibility and personalisation. The Horizon Club will afford such
service, privacy and exclusivity for our guests at an even higher
level,” said Mr. Darren Gearing, Island Shangri-La Hong Kong’s
Area Manager and General Manager, when commenting on the decision
to establish a Horizon Club in the hotel after 18 years of
operation.
