Qantas Freight is to add a fourth US city –
Dallas, Texas – to its freighter network from 6 August 2009,
providing air freight services between the southern US city, China
and Australia.
Qantas Freight’s US
network also includes Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
“With our recently launched
Australia–New Zealand B767 freighter operation and the addition of
services to Dallas we offer our customers more services to where
they need them,” said Qantas Freight Executive Manager, Mr Stephen
Cleary.
“Dallas-Fort Worth and Sydney are the right airports and city
pairs on which to base a viable long term operation –
Dallas-Fort Worth for its large, highly accessible regional
catchment and Sydney for its convenient through connections to
other Australian ports, New Zealand and the South Pacific.”
If approved, the new service will operate between Shanghai and Chicago as
QF7581 and then as QF7550 originating in Chicago each Thursday
and operating via Dallas direct to Sydney, arriving early
Friday afternoon.
All sectors will be operated by Qantas
Freight’s fleet of modern Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft.
