During the World Chinese Entrepreneurs
Convention (WCEC) Handover Ceremony held on November 21 at the SMX
Convention Center in Manila, the WCEC flag was handed by the
Philippines over to Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr
George Yeo and President of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of
Commerce & Industry, Mr Teo Siong Seng. Two years from now, the
11th WCEC will be held from 5 to 7 October at Resorts World
Sentosa.
With a wide range of unique
experiences, Resorts World Sentosa snagged the opportunity to host
the 11th WCEC, expected to congregate some 4,000 business leaders
from around the world to Resorts World Sentosa for three days of
networking, cultural exchange and experiencing world-class
entertainment at the same time.
Mr Teo Siong Seng, SCCCI
President, said, “We are extremely pleased to be able to host the
11th WCEC in Singapore from 5th to 7th October 2011, twenty years
after it was first founded by the SCCCI. It is an honour and a
privilege for Singapore and for our Chamber, and we look forward
to welcoming our friends from the global Chinese community to join
us as we stage this convention in Resorts World Sentosa.”
Mr Tan
Hee Teck, Chief Executive of Resorts World Sentosa, added, “Having such an internationally-renowned event held at
Resorts World Sentosa augments the confidence organisers and
conference planners have in our MICE offerings. We are confident
that our 4,000 delegate guests will have their best conference at
our destination.”
At the Handover Ceremony, a video
was shown to the audience, showcasing the theme of the 11th WCEC
and Singapore as a premier destination to work, live and play. It
also gave the convention delegates a glimpse of what they can
expect to see and experience at Resorts World Sentosa. Immediately
after the video, 12 young dancers from Singapore performed a dance
segment, followed by a song item by Derrick Hoh of Project
Superstar fame. The finale ended with the entire Singapore
delegation going on stage to sing a specially-composed song sung
to the tune of the Singapore song, “Home”.
