The Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, recently
completed a RM138-million re-imaging programme. The result is a
new façade, a brand new Horizon Club Lounge, Lobby Lounge and
swimming pool, as well as an all-new collection of 662 rooms,
including 101 suites designed with modern amenities to offer the
very best in comfort.
Each standard room has an average size of 40
square metres and features new
furnishings and classic materials in red, orange, gold and
walnut-brown hues to exude a warm and welcoming feel. Facilities
include a 32-inch LCD television, in-house movies, IDD telephone
services, a refrigerator and mini bar, individual room temperature
control, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a mini safe and
complimentary high-speed broadband Internet access.
The suites are appointed with a sculpted
marble coffee table, a Nespresso coffee machine, a 37-inch LCD
television with a DVD player, 38 in-house television and radio
channels, and an oversized executive desk and ergonomically
designed executive chair overlooking the city skyline.
There is also a new room category,
Premier Selection Suites, with 58 units, the majority of
which are equipped with an exclusive walk-in dressing
area and a personal bathroom television.
The hotel has two Presidential
suites – the Royal Suite and the Malaysian Suite. Each
Presidential suite has an area of 240 square metres and is located
on the top two floors of the hotel. They provide guests with an elegant dining room for 12
people, a living room, a working area, a pantry, a dressing area,
a bathroom and a spacious master bedroom. The Presidential suites
are accessible via a private lift from the specially designed
lobby at the VIP entrance.
The new Horizon Club Lounge has been relocated from Level 28 to
Level one, and provides personalised services and facilities, such
as Club Floor check-in and check-out, concierge service, a family
area, a dining room with international reading materials,
complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and light
refreshments, a smoking room, complimentary wireless internet
access, boardrooms, workstations, complimentary use of the meeting
rooms for two hours daily and basic secretarial services.
The food and beverage outlets at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
offer an extensive variety of local and international cuisine. The
hotel’s newly refurbished Lobby Lounge overlooking the lush
tropical water gardens offers innovative cocktails, mocktails and
daily afternoon tea.
Other food and beverage options
include Shang Palace, which offers Cantonese cuisine; the Lemon
Garden Café, a smorgasbord of Malay, Indian, Chinese, Italian,
Japanese, Mediterranean and Western buffet specialities prepared à
la minute; the fine dining Restaurant Lafite offering over
600 wine labels; and Zipangu, which offers authentic sushi,
yakitori and traditional Japanese fare in a contemporary setting.
Recreation facilities include Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur’s
new swimming pool surrounded by lush tropical greenery with a
spacious sunbathing deck area offering views of the Kuala Lumpur
Tower and KLCC Petronas Twin Towers.
