In the first phase of the Branded Fares with
Malaysia Airlines launch, travel agents in Malaysia, Singapore and
Brunei will have access to the brand of fare families for Malaysia
Airlines on the Abacus GDS system for the routes within and
between these markets.
This programme will allow Abacus-connected
travel agencies in these markets to have clearly differentiated
airline seats and services to fit the specific needs and
preferences of today’s seasoned travellers on Malaysia Airlines’
flights.
Mr Brett Henry, Abacus International
Vice-President Agency Marketing said, “Abacus Branded Fares give
travellers the options of having increased baggage allowance,
lounge access, limousine services and other offerings on top of
the basic flight services.”
“This allows airlines
like Malaysia Airlines to emphasise the true value of their fares
instead of being price focused. Both the airlines and travel
agents are also able to have better yield management as travellers
will be able to see the difference in service, seat
location, extra baggage surcharges etc among the various
fares and may choose to pay more for flexibility and
additional offerings,” Mr Henry added.
With Abacus Branded Fares, a flexible
fully combinable one-way fare structure is used where fares are
grouped into various fare families according to similar attributes
reflected in the Abacus system. This allows airlines to bundle
fares with merchandising and upselling opportunities.
Dr Amin Khan, Malaysia Airlines’
Senior General Manager, Network Revenue Management,
said, “The use of Abacus Branded Fares allows a
consistent brand and merchandise message to be
communicated across all our channels. Our travel agents
will find that the simplified structure reduces fare
complexity and creates efficiencies as less travel
administration is required.”
