Rendezvous Hospitality Group (RHG) is to launch
The Marque Hotel brand in New Zealand with the re-branding of the
planned Rendezvous Hotel Christchurch, which will now open in
early 2010 as The Marque Hotel Christchurch.
RHG, which already operates The Marque Hotels in
four Australian cities; Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney, has
decided that the Christchurch property provides the perfect
opportunity to introduce The Marque Hotel brand as a contemporary
and stylish hotel concept to the New Zealand accommodation market.
Iqbal Jumabhoy, CEO of RHG said, “As we already have a
well established and very large RHG hotel in New Zealand with the
Rendezvous Hotel Auckland, we have decided to launch The Marque
Hotel brand in the Christchurch market.
“Due to
the company’s recent new corporate direction and growth plans, we
have redefined both the Rendezvous Hotel and The Marque Hotel
brands. From this we have decided that the Christchurch property
is better suited to our reinvigorated The Marque Hotel brand,”
Mr Jumabhoy added.
The
Marque Hotel Christchurch will be the flagship hotel for The
Marque Hotel brand in New Zealand and will maintain the 4.5 star
quality and service positioning as originally planned.
The Marque Hotel Christchurch, which will be
one of the tallest buildings in the South Island, will incorporate a number of
innovative features to make it uniquely environmentally friendly,
including an energy generating wind turbine designed to allow for
a variety of energy generating devices to be installed.
The Marque Hotel Christchurch’s 171 rooms and suites will
feature contemporary finishes including polished stone vanities,
high ceilings, 32” LCD flat screen TVs, in-room safes, high-speed
broadband access and air-conditioning.
Other hotel
facilities and features will include secure undercover parking, 24
hour reception, tour desk, gym and sauna, 24 hour room service,
and a stylish restaurant and bar. The hotel is a departure point
on the famous Scenic Tram.
The hotel is centrally
positioned close to the famous Cathedral Square and the Central
Business District, and is an easy walk to many of Christchurch’s
major attractions including the Avon River, Botanical Gardens,
Arts Centre, Museum and Art Gallery, as well as an array of
restaurants and shops.
