Visitors
to New York City who want to step outside the Big Apple, can now explore the historical Ivy League university town of Princeton, New
Jersey, on a Princeton Bike Tour (PBT).
Founded in 1746, Princeton is one of America’s finest and best known universities, with a luminary alumni list including US Founding Father
James Madison, US President Woodrow Wilson, author F. Scott Fitzgerald, actress Brooke Shields and astronaut Pete Conrad who walked on
the moon.
Princeton is also a picturesque intellectual centre dotted with historic landmarks, quaint neighbourhoods and pleasant shops, and a bicycle
tour of the campus town makes an excellent day trip for those travelling to New York City and have a bit of extra time.
PBT founder and Princeton resident, Mimi Omiecinski,
said, “I believe the best way to explore a town is by bicycle, and Princeton certainly has a
lot to explore. From the heroes of the American Revolution to presidents, Nobel laureates, artists, architects and leading-edge thinkers, there is
a story for everyone.”
Mrs Omiecinski added that PBT is committed to showing all of Princeton's sites and instilling a love for Princeton through its Townie Tour,
Quintessential Princeton Tour, and it’s Revolutionary Tour.
Travellers joining a PBT tour also travel responsibly. PBT has established a vocational programme that provides training and employment for
teens and adults with developmental disabilities.
PBT’s Tiger Bike programme recycles older bicycles to send to Africa. “One bike can save an entire family, and when you take a tour, you can
write a note on the next bike headed to Africa,” Mrs Omiecinski said.
PBT provides quality bikes in single, tandem and adult tricycle styles. Special packages are available for families and people who bring their
own bikes.
