The Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) has expanded its Executive Committee from 15 to 19
members.
The newly enlarged Executive Committee is headed by Mr. Stanley Chu (Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd), who was re-elected as Chairman for a fourth two-year term. Working alongside him is Executive Vice Chairman Mr. Daniel Cheung (General Manager of Hong Kong Exhibitions Services Ltd), Vice Chairman Mr.
Sam Xie (Managing Director of CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd), Vice Chairman Mr. Javed Khan (General Manager of Kenfair International Ltd), Honorary Secretary Mr. Andrew Kay (Managing Director of China Promotion Ltd), and Honorary Treasurer Mr. Ronald Unterburger (Managing Director and CEO Asia Pacific of
MMI-Munich International Trade Fairs Pte. Ltd).
The HKECIA’s broad range of sub-committees bears testament to the many ways in which the Association works to support the MICE
industry. These include sub-committees dedicated to China, communications, contractor relationships, education and training, the
environment, strategic marketing, and membership-related matters. Chairmen and Vice Chairmen for these sub-committees were confirmed
after the Association’s recent AGM.
Yet much more than an industry taskforce, the Association is also helping to set the lead in terms of corporate social responsibility.
Following the tragic earthquake in Sichuan, HKECIA members raised HK$557,330 for disaster-relief through the Liaison Office of The
Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR. The donations were presented by Mr Stanley Chu to Mr Sun Wen Xiu, Vice Director of
the Commercial Office of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office in the presence of Miss Au King Chi, Commissioner for Tourism
and Ms Linda Lai, Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR
Government and Mr Zhao Hui Tian, Chief Representative of the Hong Kong and Macau Representative Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Collectively, HKECIA members have made further donations of more than HK$2 million
via other charitable organisations.
