Korean Air Chairman & CEO Mr. Yang Ho Cho has been re-elected to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors
for a two-year term at the 64th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Istanbul.
This is Mr Cho’s fifth election to the Board, following elections in 1995, 2001, 2004 and 2006. In total, this year’s service will construct Mr.
Cho’s tenth year of membership on the Board of Governors. He joins the ranks of only three airline CEOs worldwide to have served more
than ten years on the IATA Board, and becomes the first and only Asian airline CEO to do so.
In 1999 and 2005, Mr. Cho also served as a member of the Nominating Committee, whose job is to recommend members to the Board of
Governors.
Working in the airline industry for more than 30 years since 1974, Mr. Cho was named Chairman and CEO of Korean Air in April 1999, having
served as President and CEO since 1992.
The Board of Governors is IATA's government, and
members are chosen among representatives of IATA Active Member Airlines. Its members exercise an oversight and executive role on
behalf of the membership as a whole in representing the interests of the Association.
