16,000 square-foot Manchester United Megastore opens at The Venetian Macau

The Venetian Macau-Resort-Hotel opened The Manchester United Experience on Wednesday, 20th February 2008, at The Grand Canal Shoppes of The Venetian Macau. Mr. Stephen Weaver, President of Asian Region, Las Vegas Sands Corp. together with Manchester United star, Ole Gunner Solskjaer, officiated the grand opening ceremony.

Manchester United is indisputably one of the world’s most successful football clubs. The 16,000 square-foot Manchester United Megastore over 3 levels is now opened at The Grand Canal Shoppes of The Venetian Macau-Resort-Hotel. The unique design offers a complete and authentic experience of the Manchester United Football Club. The lower retail level offers a wide selection of Manchester United merchandise while a unique design. The “Mezzanine” located in the middle of the lower retail level will bring customers to the upper “Ultimate Interactive Football Experience” level.

On entering the Megastore customers can select from the latest range of Home and Away Kits for each club or team and the professional training range includes specially designed apparel, equipment and other football accessories as well as unique memorabilia. This collection of football merchandise now also includes a range of children’s apparel and this gear for both babies and kids is new to both Hong Kong and Macau. In addition, the Nike “World of Football” offers an extensive selection of merchandise from the world’s best known clubs and national teams. Complementing this exciting array of merchandise is the upper level “Experience”, where fans can participate in a complete interactive encounter with the club, its history and players as well as the authentic look and feel of the Old Trafford Stadium itself.

After the opening ceremony, thirty teenagers from single-parent families, aged between 11 and 18 years from Versiglia Gardens, operated by Salesian of Don Bosco, met with Ole Gunner Solskjaer at the Manchester United Experience. Ole shared anecdotes from his personal life as well as his career as in international football star with the teenagers. Ole explained the importance of remaining positive despite many setbacks, in his case numerous injuries on the field, and his encouraging remarks inspired a real sense of confidence among this group of teenagers. Ole also presented souvenirs to all the teenagers.
