Accor has signed an agreement with Viethan Hotel Co Ltd to manage a new Ibis hotel,
the Ibis Saigon South in Ho Chi Minh City starting early 2010 onwards. The
Ibis Saigon South will have 170 rooms and will incorporate a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and full car park facilities.
Ibis
is one of Accor's budget hotel brands.
The
Ibis Saigon South is Accor’s first Ibis hotel, Accor's budget brand, in Vietnam and will join
Accor's growing global network of more than 4,000 hotels in nearly
100 countries. The Ibis Saigon South is conveniently located in the New Urban Zone of South Ho Chi Minh City (known as Phu
My Hung), within walking distance of restaurants, future shopping malls and the new Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Speaking
of the entry of the Ibis brand into the Vietnamese market, Accor Asia Pacific Chairman and COO Michael Issenberg said, “The
demands and requirements of travelers are undergoing a significant shift. Many business travelers are now quite happy to stay in good
hotels that provide quality amenities. Accor’s Ibis hotels offer round-the-clock reception, service and amenities that have raised the bar for
budget hotels. Ibis Saigon South will complement the rapid expansion of the Ibis economy hotel brand across Asia for
Accor.”
There are currently 46 Ibis hotels in the Asia Pacific region. Ibis Saigon South is the eleventh hotel under development by Accor in Vietnam.
In March 2008, Accor
confirmed it was developing 10 new hotels which will open between end 2008 to 2010: Pullman Lao
Cai, Pullman Sapa Resort, Pullman Vung Tau, Mercure Hanoi La Gare, Mercure Hanoi Hado, Novotel Phu Quoc Resort, Novotel Halong Bay,
Novotel Nha Trang, Novotel Hoi An Imperial Resort and Novotel Hanoi On The
Park.
