Following the success of its booth at last year’s International Travel Expo, Tourism Malaysia
has a significant presence at this year’s
event, being held between 12 and 15 June at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The booth features 15 co-participants, showcasing Malaysia’s unique and diverse cultural heritage, along with its tourist hot-spots; while
highlighting the many luxury add-on activities that travellers can take part in while holidaying in Malaysia, at value-for-money prices.
Tourism Malaysia has been promoting these activities, including diving, rock-climbing and spa services, as part of its continued Golden
Anniversary celebrations.
Six of the co-participants in Tourism Malaysia’s booth are appearing at the International Travel Expo for the first time, including the
Terengganu State Government, representing the region as part of Visit Terengganu Year, taking place this year.
AirAsia, which started its new flying route between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur last month is also a first-time participant, keen to spread
the message of its new service.
It is expected the booth will be especially popular this year since the number of flights between Hong Kong and Malaysia was increased
early in 2008. Popular Asian airline Hong Kong Express, has also announced it will provide chartered flights between Hong Kong and
Langkawi over the summer period, ensuring a further flurry of interest in travel to Malaysia.
“Malaysia is having another great year in terms of visitor numbers, and we are expecting our presence at the International Travel Expo 2008
will further boost those figures,” said Zaliha Zainuddin, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Hong Kong office).
“We look forward to this event all year as it is another way for us to connect with our travel agent friends who are continually supportive of
Tourism Malaysia’s efforts. We can really showcase Malaysia and all it has to offer through this travel expo.”
Tourism Malaysia’s booth at the Expo is number 1C301.
