India's
Jet Airways and American Airlines recently launched their codeshare
partnership. With this partnership, Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege members have the added benefit of earning JPMiles as they travel on these codeshare
flights.
This is Jet Airways’ third codeshare partnership, after its partnerships with Brussels Airlines and Qantas.
Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer, Jet Airways said, “With this partnership, Jet Airways and
American Airlines will offer their passengers enhanced connectivity and seamless travel from key Indian cities to Baltimore, Boston,
Cleveland, Dallas (Fort Worth), Raleigh-Durham and Washington (Reagan) in the United States, and vice versa. We are delighted to partner
with a carrier of the stature of American Airlines to help Jet Airways improve its connectivity and reach in the North American market.”
To complement its daily flights to New York (Newark and JFK) from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai, Jet Airways will market and apply its code
(9W) on American Airlines/American Eagle operated flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Baltimore, Boston,
Cleveland, Dallas (Fort Worth), Raleigh-Durham and Washington (Reagan).
Similarly, American Airlines will now market and apply its code (AA) on Jet Airways operated flights between New Delhi and
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Significantly, this codeshare partnership allows JetPrivilege members traveling on Jet Airways/American Airlines codeshare flights to
accrue JPMiles, on the basis of which members may either maintain or upgrade their tier status in the JetPrivilege Programme. Members
may also enjoy access to lounges at international airports, additional baggage allowance on Jet Airways flights, JetPrivilege upgrade
vouchers usage and use of Business Class check-in counters.
Both American and Jet Airways operate out of American’s new $1.3 billion state-of-the-art terminal at JFK.
