The Cairns Convention
Centre’s Director of Sales and Marketing Ms Rochelle Uechtritz has
confirmed that she is to step down from full time employment after 8 years in the role.
Ms Uechtritz will retain a project marketing role with both the Cairns Centre and its parent company Ogden
IFC.
Ross Steele, the Centre's Director of Operations for the past 4 years has been promoted to General Manager.
Mr Steele, a Certified Practicing Accountant, commenced with the Centre as Business Manager in 2000 and was previously with the Brisbane
Convention and Exhibition Centre in a senior financial role.
Jenny Graham who has been with the Centre for 6 years and is Senior Business Development Manager will become Director of Sales overseeing
a restructured sales and marketing team.
Ms Graham had an extensive marketing and advertising background in Victoria and New South Wales prior to moving to Cairns.
The
Centre's Managing Director Geoff Donaghy paid tribute to Ms Uechtritz saying that the Cairns Convention Centre is now one of the most widely recognised regional venues in
the world and is considered a global benchmark in meetings industry marketing.
“In 2005 Cairns was ranked third only to Sydney and Melbourne in the number of major international conferences attracted to Australia.”
He also warmly welcomed the promotions of Mr Steele and Ms
Graham, saying, “Ross and Jenny are both excellent, highly performing executives who will ensure the standards that gained the Cairns Convention Centre’s
recognition as the best venue in the world in 2004 will be
maintained.”
The Cairns Convention Centre is operated by Ogden IFC,
one of the largest venue management companies in the Asia Pacific region who also manage
the Brisbane, Darwin and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centres, the Brisbane and Newcastle Entertainment Centres, Acer Arena (formerly known as
the Sydney SuperDome), Telstra Stadium in Sydney, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane and four State Theatres in Perth.
