Hilton has launched a flexible new short breaks
campaign, Hilton minibreaks, on the back of tourism statistics and research that have
revealed a global trend for travellers taking shorter and more frequent holidays. According to the Zuji Online Travel
Report, the majority of hotel bookings in Asia are made for stays of 3 nights
or less with one-third of bookings made in the same week of travel. Similarly, the 2007 BDRC Asia Pacific Hotel Business Guest Survey
showed that the most common type of leisure stay chosen by business travelers is short breaks,
while 34% of business travelers have tagged leisure stays onto business trips. Commenting on the initiative, Kees Hartzuiker, Vice President – Operations, Hilton
Hotels Asia, said, “Today’s time-strapped travelers often have the means to travel, but
they don’t always have the luxury of being able to plan ahead or indulge in weeks of
holiday at a time. Hilton minibreaks is ideal as it offers an array of accommodation
options for short breaks across our 12 hotels in Asia. Guests can tailor the type of
stay and experience they want through our website, making bookings up to the last-minute
before they travel.” Available on any day of the week at all Hilton hotels throughout Asia, Hilton minibreaks
offers a range of options including full service, bed and breakfast, or room
only. At city hotels, Hilton minibreaks offers additional
benefits including lazy breakfast served until 11:00am and late checkout until 6:00pm on
Saturdays and Sundays. My Little Hilton - a specially designed programme for younger guests as part of the
Hilton minibreaks package - includes free stays for children under 18 when sharing their
parents’ room, a second room for children at half price and free food and beverages
from the children’s menu for children up to the age of 10. All Hilton hotels in Asia have
babysitting services and provide in-room kids’ entertainment television
programmes. “Increasingly, business travellers are combining their family holidays
with their business trips. So whether they are extending their stay after their business
has been completed or just having the family around while they are working, squeezing
in time with the family is better than being away from them for weeks at a
        go,” said Mr
        Hartzuiker. See
