The Louise luxury vineyard
retreat was recently named as the winner of the Luxury Accommodation category
at the 2007 South Australian Tourism Awards Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
The Louise will go forward as the South Australian entrant to contest this prestigious
category at the national level in February 2008.
The award was presented by SA Tourism Minister, Hon. Jane Lomax-Smith and received
by The Louise owner Jim Carreker and general manager Penny Rafferty. In his
acceptance to the audience of more than 500 industry professionals, Mr. Carreker noted
that this award is especially a recognition of the accomplishments of Ms. Rafferty and the
executive chef of co-located Appellation restaurant, Mark McNamara, and their combined
teams of more than 40 employees. The sustained high level of guest experience at The
Louise is testament to the dedication and consistent effort of the property’s employees.
Overall in the 2007 awards, Barossa-based tourism businesses were named as 6 of the 26
category winners. Observing this significant regional achievement by the Barossa, Ms.
Rafferty said, “This award confirms the growing level of excellence of regional
tourism offerings in South Australia. It is our understanding that this is the first time in
the 25 years of SA Tourism Awards that a property outside the Adelaide CBD has won the
Luxury Accommodation category. We are particularly pleased to have been recognized in
this manner.”
The Louise is a luxury vineyard retreat surrounded by hundreds of acres of vines
overlooking the world renowned Barossa Valley. Just fifteen suites offer
luxurious inspired design with private terraces, soft contemporary furnishings and spacious
ensuites. Acclaimed onsite restaurant, Appellation, is widely regarded as one of
Australia’s finest regional dining experiences.
