India’s Jet Airways
is continuing its rapid expansion, with the introduction of a new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, enabling increased service between India
and London.
From 13 June, the new A330 will fly from Delhi to London Heathrow three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. On the other
four days of the week, this route will be served by the A340-300E aircraft.
Deployment of the new A330 aircraft on the Delhi/London route will enable Jet Airways to operate a daily second frequency between Mumbai and
London Heathrow effective July 10, 2006 using the A340-300E aircraft.
The first of its kind to be operated in India, the A330 has joined one of the world’s youngest aircraft fleets, and taken the airline’s fleet size to 55.
The Jet Airways A330
is configured to carry 226 passengers in a spacious two-class cabin, with 30 Premiere Class seats and 196 Economy
Class seats.
The Premiere Class flat bed seats of the A330 aircraft are pitched at 82
inches.
The In-Flight-Entertainment (IFE) of the A330-200 is equipped with the highly advanced Panasonic 3000i IFE, which enables Jet Airways’
passengers to have ‘on-demand’ digital audio and video.
Single and multi-player interactive games especially programmed for Jet Airways’ passengers will display on high resolution arm LCD screens for
sharper, brighter images (Premiere Class) as well as seatback LCD screens (Economy class).
Additionally, similarities of cockpit design between the A340 and the A330 aircraft means that Jet Airways will be able to deploy these aircraft in the
minimal possible time.
