In May 2006, Singapore welcomed 765,000 visitors, registering a 7.8% growth over the same period a year ago. This is a record high for May. Visitor
days were estimated to reach 2.6 million, an increase of 6.7% in comparison to May 2005.
Indonesia (146,000), India (81,000), P.R. China (79,000), Australia (51,000) and Malaysia (50,000) were Singapores top five visitor-generating markets
in the month, accounting for 53% of total visitor arrivals.
In May 2006, Singapore gazetted hotels recorded
Sin$117 million in room revenue, an increase of 18.8% over May 2005.
The Average Room Rate
(ARR) was estimated at Sin$158, an increase of 18.5% over May 2005. The Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) for
hotels was estimated to have reached 82%, a 1 percentage point decline over May 2005.
