Tiger
Airways is offering passengers the unique option to “upsize” their luggage from 15kgs to 20kgs by paying just
Sin$ 15.00 (US$ 10) for a roundtrip journey.
The new luggage upsize facility,
becomes effective on 1 August 2006 and will be available on all Tiger Airways routes. Any
luggage in excess of the higher 20 kg limit will continue to be charged at the prevailing excess luggage rate of
Sin$ 7.50 (or prevailing rates of the departure airport) per kg. All passengers
will continue to enjoy 15 kg of free check-in luggage and 7 kg of hand carry plus one handbag or laptop bag.
“This is another example of the choices we are offering to passengers under our customer empowerment program. The low fare business model
operated by Tiger Airways means that our customers are only charged for the specific additional services they require. This already applies to
in-flight food and drinks and we have now extended it to check-in luggage as well. We will continue to look for more ways to empower our
passengers,” said Tiger Airways Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Rosalynn
Tay.
