Mr.
Michael Kappes has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at the
InterContinental Muscat.
Joining the team in the lead up to a planned US$17 million renovation project – to include rooms, restaurants, banquet facilities and fitness areas – German
national Kappes, who has been working in the hospitality industry since the 1970s,
said he is looking forward to driving new initiatives at the picturesque property.
“Drawing on my experience that has included working with major hotel groups in the Gulf and throughout Europe, I aim to further boost the
InterContinental Muscat’s popularity with European and Middle Eastern visitors,” said
Kappes.
Moving into the new role at the
InterContinental Muscat from his previous post at the Regency InterContinental Bahrain, where he was also the Director
of Sales and Marketing, Kappes will be able to draw on previous achievements to set new targets for his sales and marketing team.
With a passion for reading, classical music, drawing, painting, cooking and photography, this consummate hotel professional is also a keen linguist with skills in
German, French, English and Arabic.
Since opening in 1985, the InterContinental Muscat has built a reputation as
one of the best hotels in the Middle East.
