InterContinental Hotels Group appoints Kieron Ritchard Vice President, Strategy – Greater China

InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Mr Kieron Ritchard as Vice President, Strategy – Greater China. Mr Ritchard is the newest addition to the InterContinental Hotels Group’s Greater China leadership team and reports directly to Chief Operating Officer, North Asia, Mr Edmond Ip.

Mr Ritchard will be responsible for developing and executing the growth strategy for Greater China, a key development focus for InterContinental Hotels Group.

Mr Edmond Ip, said, “Kieron will be a great asset to our team. By leveraging the Group’s global expertise and experience, Kieron will articulate a strategy to build upon our already strong development focus and contribute to increasing our distribution. Greater China represents a huge market with an excellent outlook, in terms of domestic  travel, as well as international arrivals. Given the strength of our internationally-recognised brands and the phenomenal projected growth of the region, we are committed to maximising our opportunities in China.”

Mr Ritchard is a seasoned hospitality executive with extensive international experience in the hotel and tourism industries. During his 12 years of service in leading management consulting firms, he established himself as a specialist advisor to the hotel industry. He was most recently Vice President, Development Asia Pacific, at Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts, a role he has held since January 2002. 

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wollongong and completed his MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management, the postgraduate school of the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.

Mr Ritchard will be based in Shanghai.
